In this workshop students will learn how to layer gorgeous color backgrounds into an eco-printed textile, using a technique called “eco-printing with a carrier blanket”. Botanical natural dyeing is the process of embedding botanical “stamps” directly from plant material into fabric or paper. Working with natural elements such as leaves, blossoms, berries, vegetables and bark, you will design and dye your own silk scarf. As you are waiting for the materials to process, Kathy will discuss the dyeing characteristics of different types of natural materials. Participants are encouraged to collect and flatten botanicals prior to the workshop. We will break for lunch.
Prior experience is recommended.
