Eco Printing Workshop Sarasota 2024
Botanical Printing on Silk Scarves 10:00am - 2:30pm
Service Description
Each session is roughly one 5 hour session. Instructor Kathleen Lang will guide students through the very unique and magical process of eco printing on fabric and paper. Eco printing is a sustainable natural dyeing technique of capturing botanical prints using no chemicals. Students will bring flower blossoms, leaves and other natural dye materials collected from nature along with any on going projects to the workshop. Students will learn how to arrange their “live plant design” on a silk scarves and paper. The textiles and paper sub-straights will be processed using a bundling and cooking technique. This will cause the plants to decompose discharging color dye prints into the fabric. Students are invited to bring individual projects to the workshop for direction and advice. Students will be required to sign a release from liability form upon arrival. Students should bring lunch, snacks and drinks.
